  1. Make a batch of (Cafeteria) Stuff in an oven safe frying pan or dutch oven.
  2. Put the corn in a separate bowl with a few tablespoons of water, cover it, and microwave it for about five minutes. Drain and spread on top of meat layer.
  3. Make a batch of mashed potatoes and spread them on top of the corn layer.
  4. Sprinkle with a little paprika for color if you wish, then pop it in the oven at 400°F for twenty minutes to an hour. It's really just melding; it doesn't need to cook any more.

These strata are pretty flexible, and comforting no matter what. We've topped it with mashed sweet potatoes or mashed potatoes and carrots. The corn layer can be any vegetable as long as it's pre-cooked enough to be done when the rest is, since it really just needs to be heated through once it's assembled. We've also made it with soy crumbles instead of meat.
