  1. Preheat the oven to 375˚F.
  2. Beat together the butter and sugars.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt and spices.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix well.
  6. Stir in the oats, and raisins and nuts if desired.
  7. Drop the dough by spoonfuls onto ungreased tins.
  8. Bake 8 to 9 minutes for chewy cookies, 10 to 11 minutes for crisp.

Mom made these all the time when we were growing up. This recipe is from the Quaker Oatmeal box. You really can’t question the bosses of oatmeal.
